I am 73, live on S.S. and a small state pension. The problem is with capitalism, not your fixed income. Firstly, capitalism demands that there be a large class of impoverished individuals. The very fact that you and I are able to survive with relative comfort is less than 100 years old, and a result of socialism influence, not capitalism. Remind conservatives of that the next time they rail against it on these boards.
I too am below the poverty line, but live comfortably, have everything I need, and most things I want. I comfort myself in the knowledge that most of the planet would kill for a life you and I take for granted. Kings and queens only 150 years ago could not even have dreamed of a life as blessed as we live.
What you fear will grow. If you focus on your blessings, they will grow. When I got in touch of my true source of prosperity, I never in life have had to chase money again. It comes to me naturally. One old man's opinion only.
Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say.If they knew you believe in God above?
